Phobia Museum

2018

The project approach will be directed toward the museum design which its purpose is to address the interactive audience with immaterial elements and the perception of the elemental elements. In this approach, the boundary between the subject and object is redefined and the museum’s audience participates consciously and at times unconsciously in the process of transmitting the message.  In this plan, four common fears (Phobia) were examined   among people of different cultures. The fear of height, darkness, vagueness and endlessness are the main focus of the museum’s plan, in which they try to consciously control the audience with their consciousness and see the impact of the conflict as an experience of visiting the museum of fear.

In essence, the museum as a whole is a collection consisting of two main elements. First, as a platform for the occurrence of mental events and a context for experiencing the feelings caused by fears, which will be a kind of core of the museum. And in the second step as a space to present events and artistic performances. Thus, in general, the museum is a combination of the main spaces of the phobia museum and the public spaces of the museum, such as galleries and classrooms, which are connected to each other through the relationship between mass and space and the role of circulation.

The source of fear is Unawareness. Feelings of Unawareness, ambiguity in diagnosis and weakness in understanding subjects are the roots of the formation of fear and the concept of phobia.
Therefore, the project will be a manifestation of this concept and a translation of the experience of Unawareness.
The museum form, as a simple volume without any semantic information, represents a place that does not provide any details or information about it to the audience. The volume in its simplest and most basic geometric form is without display and even without opening visibility into the building.
The project in this phase is an introverted collection in which the Visitor is in the initial encounter in ambiguity and ignorance, and by entering it through the access axes between certain functional spaces of the museum, respectively, with different experiences in a controlled way. And artificially involved in various fears and feelings of phobias.
